The Last Day Michigan Was Called "Home"

[Mood | Tired]

Today is the last day that I can call Michigan home. After 16 years of great times and bad times, my parents are officially leaving Michigan to go to Georgia. Friday my parents packed up everything in the house. I felt my heart ache because I was so attached to that house. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I loved living in Michigan, despite the bitter winters and dying economy.

The good thing is that my cousins bought a place in Michigan, so I'll always have a place to stay (well and my friend's places), but it still feels like the closing of a part III to my Michigan story. First being my home (elementary-high school), then being my home while I was away at college, even if I was still in the same state, then finally the closing of the chapter while I lived in New York.

I'm glad my parents have moved on (and South Carolina/Savannah is such a great place). I'm excited to visit them, but my life is now semi-permanently in NYC now.

Goodbye Old House.
